The short version
SafeKitchn is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This site also displays ads through Google AdSense, which pays us based on ad views and clicks, separate from any purchase you make.
How this affects (and does not affect) our recommendations
Affiliate commission is how this site pays for itself, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it does not do is decide what we recommend. Every product on this site goes through the same review process described on our How We Test page: manufacturer data and safety documentation, a check against FDA food-contact rules and California Prop 65 limits, and a review by our materials chemist, James Daniels. A product does not get a better review, a higher ranking, or a more favorable mention because it earns us a higher commission, and brands cannot pay to be featured or reviewed on this site.
If we ever accept a free sample or review unit from a manufacturer for testing purposes, we will say so directly in that article.
Where affiliate links appear
Affiliate links most commonly appear as product links or “Check price” buttons pointing to Amazon within our reviews, comparisons, and buying guides. Clicking one takes you to Amazon; the price you see there is the same price you would pay by navigating to Amazon directly. We do not mark up prices, and Amazon sets its own prices independent of this site.
